Friday Fun: Tortoise and the Cat

Once again the tortoise show persistence can pay off:

a fierce little tortoise that would not allow a cat to invade what it perceived to be its territory. Instead, it actively sets about attacking and ultimately expelling the feline, which at first cannot believe the sheer audacity of this small but spirited creature.

Ever-encroaching urbanisation is just one of the onslaughts natural spaces around the world are facing. The killer tortoise of Port Elizabeth, South Africa as this little fellow has become known is a small but powerful symbol that some things are worth fighting for.

ha ha, what a freaking little turtle! I have never seen a turtle going for a cat. I wish I had one of these at my homeyard, which would chase our neighbour cats. He has three of them and they always go for a nap on the bonnet of my black car.

I’ve never seen a turtle go for anything! I didn’t know the little guys could have that much energy. I like the quote though, “The killer tortoise of Port Elizabeth, South Africa as this little fellow has become known is a small but powerful symbol that some things are worth fighting for.” Good lesson to take from the turtle. What lesson should we take from the cat though?

LOL wow that tort moves fast! Determined is right!

We keep box turtles as pets and one of our boxies – Myrtle the Ornate Box turtle moves around like that when she’s determined to get somewhere. I’m not sure she’d chase cats though!

    Great video. 🙂
